We provide an after school club at this setting for the children who attend Thringstone Primary School and Little Acorns pre-school from 3 years. We offer after school care Monday-Thursday from 3.15 - 5.30pm.
Thringstone Kids Cabin club runs from the ‘heart of the school’ in the hall, with its very own play area attached to allow the children to have constant opportunities to play outside and gain the benefits of fresh air. Out there, the children enjoy playing on the bikes, in the sand pit and building obstacle courses with the tyres. This area also has a canopy to protect the children so they are able to enjoy the outdoors even in our lovely ‘British weather.
Beyond the play area, the club also has access to the school's large field, 2 playgrounds with trim trails and the MUGA (Multi Use Games Area), which they love to have sports sessions in. We have also been known to venture out to the Forest School area from time to time. Children at Thringstone enjoy being active and make full use of Thringstone's incredible grounds – we are very lucky!.
At Kids Cabin we are devoted to ensuring that the children in our care feel safe and have lots of fun when they are with us. We value their opinion and this is reflected in all that we do. The children help plan the activities by sharing their ideas and interests with us. The children are involved in every aspect of our club. They help to create our tea menus, choose what toys they would like to have out and even help plan our special topics, such as; Australia, Under the Sea, Space and Dinosaurs.
We also get the children involved in planning parties and special events. Here at Kids Cabin, we celebrate everyone and particularly look forward to our birthday parties. We also enjoy our special events at Christmas, Easter, Halloween and the end of the academic year. The children are asked for their ideas for these and then a vote will be held to make the final decision. We also love learning about and celebrating different cultures. The children have previously enjoyed a Chinese food tasting evening and making Diwali treats for their families.
In our day to day running, the children enjoy a variety of activities. There is always an interesting craft activity for the children to enjoy each week. This varies from, painting, to sewing, to baking and even tie dye – the messier the better! We also provide a wide selection of toys for the children to enjoy and play with each evening.
The children are offered a light two course tea each afternoon at around 4pm and drinks throughout each session.
